Financial Contributions

Financial donations are VITAL to funding our services for victims of domestic violence and their families. Each year, we must raise about one-quarter of our budget from individuals and donor organizations just like you.  Simply put, our work is not possible without YOUR support.

Prudence Crandall Center is a 501 (c) nonprofit organization and therefore your contributions are fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Other types of financial gifts to consider include:

Memorial or Honorary gifts, to pay tribute to a friend or family member in lieu of other gifts. When you make such a caring donation we provide you with an acknowledgment letter for tax purposes and send the honoree or family member of the deceased notification of your gift and generosity.

Employee Giving campaigns in your workplace. You can designate Prudence Crandall Center as the recipient of your United Way contribution or other employee giving campaign. Matching gift programs are also available as a part of many companies’ benefits. It is a way in which your charitable contribution will go further. Some companies will even match your volunteer hours. Ask your Human Resources representative for the necessary paperwork or instructions to apply online.

Sponsorships can be made to a specific event. It is a great way to support our programs and receive recognition for your good works in the community. Sponsorships are available at several different levels, including program ads and in-kind donations.

Stocks and securities may be donated through your Broker or Financial Planner. Please contact Carolyn Jasper, Development Director at (860) 225-5187 ext. 18 or cjasper@prudencecrandall.org before you transfer stock so that we may establish the value of your gift for tax purposes and ensure the security of your gift.

Leave a legacy by making a bequest in your will to Prudence Crandall Center.  These donations help sustain our organization and provide savings in state and federal death taxes. Such gifts can be made by designating a specific amount or a percentage of your total assets.

Pledging a recurring annual gift helps supports our annual program costs and allows us to better plan for our future. Find out more about how you can become involved in our Bright Futures Campaign

Host a Community Fundraising Event/Third Party Fundraiser

Community or third-party fundraising events are a great way for  friends, family, coworkers, religious and civic groups, schools, and others to join forces and make a collective impact in supporting our work! Examples include donation drives, fundraisers, workplace or school “dress down” days, road races, and other activities led by a group or individual not affiliated with Prudence Crandall Center.

In October, for example, we encourage our friends to host a “Dress Down & Go Purple” day at their school, workplace or organization during Domestic Violence Awareness Month–to raise awareness and funding to support our essential services.  For ideas and further information on community fundraisers, please contact Gabrielle Nadeau at (860) 225-5187 ext. 23.

Donate Goods

Many of the people in our program leave their personal belongings behind or take only essential items when they flee unsafe environments. In kind gifts give us the ability to provide them with the items they could not bring with them. Below is a list of items on our donation “wish list” that we are in need of throughout the year.

Because our storage space is limited, there are times during the year when we must limit the quantity of donations we can accept. Our greatest need is for NEW items. We can accept some gently-used items on a case-by-case basis. We appreciate your understanding and will happily refer you to another organization if we are unable to accept your donation.

Please contact Gabrielle Nadeau (860) 225-5187 ext. 23 in advance to discuss your donation, determine if there is a need, and make arrangements for drop-off.
