Our Leadership…

For over 40 years, Prudence Crandall Center has been a leader in our state’s efforts to reduce the devastating impact of domestic violence. Established in 1973, we are the oldest domestic violence agency in Connecticut and the second oldest in the nation.

In recent years we have experienced significant growth, both in our capacity to serve and the demand for services as we are now touching the lives of more than 8,000 women, men and children annually.

We have offices in New Britain, Bristol, two regional criminal courts, an emergency shelter in an undisclosed location, and after a major renovation to repurpose a landmark structure in New Britain, we opened our state-of-the-art Rose Hill facility in 2009. This 45,000 square foot facility is home to our newly-added supportive housing programs and our administrative offices.

Features include: 28 units of safe, affordable housing, a fully-equipped medical office, training space for professionals and volunteers, support group rooms, indoor and outdoor spaces for children and teens, and more. This innovative spectrum of services is the first of its kind in our state and among a few in the nation.

Our Impact – One Person at a Time, Year After Year…

· 3,300 victims of crime receive advocacy services with court proceedings
· 120 children and adults rebuild their lives through our emergency shelter services
· 3,500 calls for help to our 24/7 hotline are answered
· 3,200 people are educated/trained through over 100 presentations
· Each day 95 children and adults call Prudence Crandall Center home

Our Vision…

Having completed this phase of unprecedented organizational growth, we are now focused on building community partnerships, raising revenues, and growing reserves to achieve fiscal stability and strengthen Prudence Crandall Center for the future. The goal of our 40th Anniversary “Bright Futures” Campaign is to raise $1 million to:

· sustain our program expansions,
· build financial reserves, and
· raise awareness to prevent future violence and reach those in need of services.
